Cheap and Healthy Vegan Meals + Radical Books and Information

The Cowley Cafe is a friendly space serving cheap healthy vegan meals which are prepared and cooked from scratch fresh each day. We also have a range of loose herb teas and organic hot drinks.

  • Soup of the day with bread is 1.80.
  • Daily specials (prepared fresh each day) are up to 3.
  • Filter Coffee 70p / Tea 50p

Regular opening times:
Open: Tuesdays - Fridays 12 noon - 4pm (food is served between 12.30pm - 3pm)

The Bookshop stocks a wide range of titles around the many aspects of activism for radical social change. We have been organising bookshop talks which are FREE and open to the public. Recently we have hosted Kate Evans, John Zerzan, Stevphen Shukaitis with Jack Bratich, Katharine Hibbert, David Graeber and Clive Bloom. If you are on Facebook you can check for future events through the Cowley Club group or they will be listed in the calendar here.

The next planned events are Gabriel Kuhn talking about his new book Sober Living for the Revolution on October 25 and a drift with Stevphen Shukaitis on October 26. Then Clive Bloom returns to talk about Violent London on November 10.

As well as books we have magazines, a large collection of pamphlets and zines, postcards, badges and t-shirts. We have specialist sections on:

  • Anarchism
  • Queer/Feminism
  • Ecology
  • Autonomy
  • Race
  • Radical history
  • Indigenous Peoples
  • Anti-militarism
  • Vegan Cooking
  • Animal Rights
  • Fiction
  • Poetry
